i’m lucky to have this wonderful man of God as my boyfriend.
I used to be the kind to get sappy and cheesy all the time…lately I have been trying not to as much. Whether it’s some deep insecurity or just my testosterone kicking in a little bit more haha either way I have to say something today…
These pictures are of my bestfriend and now girlfriend carrie. The first is when we hung out at my friends birthday party…I was crazy about her and she hadn’t the slightest clue. A lot has happened in between these two pictures..fights…insecurities…losing friends…gaining friends…breaking up…and getting back together.
It’s been a lot…and there will be even more to come! I am absolutely blessed to have her in my life. I’m a little scared about the future, but I’m excited to have her in my future for however long God wills it.
We’ve been a pretty messy couple over the past two years…just so much confusion and jealousy and we just made some dumb mistakes. But, we have learned…oh man have we learned. And, I can’t get over how much better this relationship is the second time around. I cannot atest that we are in some way or in some form some super couple now and can make it through anything, but I can atest to caring for each other in the best way that we can.
In the movie fireproof one of the characters says “you can’t give someone something you don’t have…” That means I can’t give Carrie love if I don’t have love…I can’t give her selflessness and humility if I don’t have selflessness and humility, I can’t give or show her selfcontrol if I don’t have selfcontrol and the list goes on. But, because of Christ…I now have love. Because of the Holy Spirit I may now be able to attain love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and selfcontrol. In our relationship, being that we are Christians and deeply in love with Christ, we have been given everything we need for life and godliness here on earth (2 Peter 1:3) so, since much has been given to us much is required. We are required to, in the most simplest explanation, be imitators of Christ meaning we are obedient to the father and his calling on our lives, meaning we are selfless and humble in our actions, and meaning we delight immensely in the loving of others. And, how can we love others? By first loving God and following his commands (1 John 5:1-5).
I don’t say all this “Bible stuff” to make some claim now that we are this “perfect” Christian relationship…hahah we are by far further from it. But, I say all this to say we are pursuing to be more Christlike and pursuing to love each other the way scripture has taught us to do so.
I’m excited to see how this relationship goes and where we are taken too. Everything I have written is just some food for thought…I felt like writing! Haha hope you enjoyed!
God will never ask you to do something without giving you the ability to do it. You may get passive or complacent and think, “Yes, I know I need to do that. Maybe next week.” Well, next week turns into next month. Next month turns into next year. When we put off what God has told us to do, we miss that season of grace. But, if you’ll deal with things as soon as God brings them to light, you’ll have a special grace, a special empowerment. You’ll feel God’s enabling power helping you to do it.
Today, is there something you’re putting off? Something you know in heart that you are supposed to do? Don’t let the season of grace pass. Don’t let complacency destroy you. Your destiny stands before you. God has something amazing in your future. Be bold, be strong. Step out in faith, be obedient, and embrace the good things God has in store for you!
